FINIS TASBY BAND

NOTHIN’ BUT THE FINIS FOR THE GRANDE FINALE!

FINIS TASBY www.finistasbyblues.com - one of the best blues vocalists alive today - graced the stage at The Cove Inn in Westport for the last Blues On The Rideau Show of the season Friday night. He’s played with blues greats like Freddie King, Lowell Fulson and John Lee Hooker to name a few – and it shows. What a singer and what a fine show to end the season with! The only way we were able to have him all the way from L.A. was because he was in Toronto to record a new CD with his label ElectroFi www.electrofi.com.

Backed by a great band from Toronto – Gary Kendall (Downchild member and 6X Maple Blues Bass Player of the Year), Tyler Burgess on drums (former drummer with Downchild & Stompin’ Tom Connors), Shakey Dagenais on keyboards (an excellent Toronto session player) and Pete Schmidt on guitar (who was particularly hot last night – we had him for Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne too and this guy just keeps getting better!) they had the Sold Out crowd up and dancing from the first song and all night long – as usual at The Cove! They showed their appreciation at the end of the night with a Standing “O” and encore, encore. Finis obliged with one of his original compositions and one of my favourites – “America” - to close out the night. Awesome.

$585 was raised for the Westport Library bringing the total raised for local Westport charities from the 2007/08 BOTR @ The Cove season to $7,110.

We’ll be back!” Linda Coulter, Kingston “Hats off to a great season. Next year’s Line-Up looks awesome too! You guys are wonderful hosts”. Joan Mumford, Kingston “It’s been a fabulous year – the bands, the Cove’s hospitality and service. It was a great “fini” with Finis. Roll on next year and pity those who don’t come!” Diana & Luc Bujold, Perth Road (attended all 9 Shows this year).
